Anyway, I have great news!
Lupron is finally leaving my system.
Hence, the entry title. We used
to sing this in our adaptation of Wizard of Oz at my sorority in college. It’s the one song from that show that I still
remember…however, I have now changed the words to “ding-dong, the witch is
dead, the wicked witch, the Lupron witch.”
J It makes me happy.
Almost three weeks ago, Dr. Bundren put me on birth
control. This is the next step in our
process. It will allow my ovaries to
rest and all of my other reproductive organs to return to normal, instead of that
of an 80-year old woman. I will stay on
the birth control until sometime in April when we will officially begin IVF.
In the meantime, Todd has to go to OKC to be tested to make
sure that he will be able to partake in IVF.
That’s a big step for us, so keep your fingers crossed that everything
goes as planned.
Near the end of February, I will have an exam with Dr. B to
make sure the surgery and Lupron healed my endometriosis. Also, another big step in this process.
The good thing about this part is 1) we’re getting closer to
conceiving Baby Provence, and 2) my menopause symptoms are beginning to
subside. <singing> “Celebrate good
times, come on! It’s a celebration!” My moods are more stable. My joints don’t seem to hurt as much. (I actually organized a Zumba group for some
ladies at work. We start tonight, so it
will be the first real test to see how my joints are doing. If they do okay, I may start boot camp again
next week. Yay!) My hot flashes got really bad near the end of
Lupron. I’m not sure what it was, but
they were pretty out of control. Todd
and I had some really good laughs about it during our cuddle fests. He said it felt like I was about to explode
from the heat I was radiating. I’m also
starting to sleep better. Overall,
things are slowly getting back to normal, and I couldn’t be happier.
Now, I just need to really get on the ball with losing this
excess 30 pounds I’ve been carrying around.
I seriously have no motivation to change my diet. I need a personal chef. Any takers?!

Yay a new post! Since you hadn't posted in for.ev.er I was just assuming that the "happy happy happy" was in progress. :) Yay for the end of Lupron! I like looking for silver linings...at least when final menopause hits, you'll be prepared and know what to expect, and can emphathize with other women going through it? Eh, that's more polished nickel than silver, but whatevs, I'll take it. :)
ReplyDeleteSo I already told you about the bike thing I'm in love with. But a friend recently introduced me to the MyFitnessPal app (I know I'm way late to that game) but I'm obsessed with it. As an engineer, it's soooo fun to play with and look at and study the stats. (Huge nerd alert.) It's really easy to enter food - it even has a barcode scanner for entering packaged stuff. And at the end of every day, when you say you're done logging, it says "If every day were like today, you would weigh XXX in 5 weeks." That's GREAT for helping keep me on track - puts that Saturday food splurge I had in context. Allan got me a heart rate monitor for Christmas, so I'm also entering my exercise calories in it too, but I'm told it will sync directly with a FitBit. I've always always watched what I eat, but I've never tried tracking it. The nerd in me is very happy.
And I'm so happy for YOU in making progress! Fingers and eyes and toes crossed that the upcoming appointments go well!
Oops, this is Ashleigh. :) Forgot about that.
DeleteAshleigh,
DeleteI knew it was you. You're the only friend I have married to an Allan, is an engineer, and has a new bike machine she loves. :)
I do think it’s a benefit that I know what to expect with menopause. I’m going to be telling my doctor someday that I know what is about to happen, so I need him to help kick it before it starts. :) He’ll think I’m a nut! Ha!
I just heard about MyFitnessPal yesterday. I just downloaded it, so now I just need to start tracking. Thanks for another recommendation, though. I love apps with stats, too. Have you heard of Sleep Cycle? Check it out. I put in all of my own factors, so I get to see what is causing me to sleep better and worse. It’s awesome!
Thanks for all of the kind thoughts! I’m so glad we’re back in touch with each other.
Just one step closer to huge baby giggles for us. I do have some questions, but won't ask them here. Since this is a new process for the entire family, I'm not sure I understand all I know about this. : )
ReplyDeleteYou can ask as many questions as you want, Momma! Can't wait to hear the baby giggles. So excited! :)
