That being said, we have had some laughs this week that I
would like to share.
A month or so ago, I cancelled our cable. I figured it wasn’t worth $80 extra each
month to have a ton of channels we never watched. We have lost some visibility to shows we
enjoy, but so far, we haven’t missed them that much. Instead, we have a newfound love for Jimmy
Fallon.
That being said, Todd likes to occasionally jokingly remind me that I have cancelled his
sports packages. J Friday night, for instance, Jenks high school
(the town in which we live) was playing in the football state
championship. They have won something
like 37 of the last 23 years of football state championships, but this year,
they had been beaten twice…once by the team they were playing on Friday.
Near the end of the game, we received word that it was
close. What does my husband do? He turns on the AM radio. (It reminded me of my dad going out to the
car to listen to OSU basketball games when I was little. Those weren’t always on TV. It was a sweet memory.)
With Jenks football in the background, there was only one
logical option for serenading Todd during my 58th shot of this cycle…Charles
Page High Forever, the fight song of my high school. In my defense, Jenks’ fight song doesn’t seem
to have words to it, so this will probably be a winner in our house for
life. (And for those wondering, I do
still know the motions to the dance, but I chose not to do them during the
shot. Um, ouch!)
Jenks did win the game.
I believe my singing had something to do with it.
Saturday, my college won their football game against our
in-state rival. We were 19 ½ point
UNDERDOGS for that game, so it was a great outcome for Oklahoma State
fans. Todd’s reward? OSU fight song during that night’s shot.
To wrap up the weekend, I did OSU’s alma mater during Sunday
night’s shot. It was the only other
school song in my repertoire. That Todd
is a lucky man!
Hope everyone is well!

Delete37 of the last 23 years? That's pretty phenomenal. Dad got up this morning, asking me if you had posted on Your Baby Provence blog. He enjoys your posts. Sweet.
ReplyDeleteI know, Mom. I wondered if anyone would catch that. They're a pretty phenomenal team.
DeleteThat makes me smile really big to know Dad enjoys these posts so much. :)
Ride ride ride ride. Ride em Cowboys! To victory! Past OU's goal and we'll sing Oklahoma STATE!
ReplyDeleteLove it!!! Oh, I should have hummed the Waving the Wheat song for him, too! :) I'll add it to the list.
