The Results Are In…

We went to the urologist today, and surprisingly, the process was very simple…well, for me at least.  J  Basically, the doctor read through the notes from the urologist that performed the vasectomy reversal and performed a quick exam.  At that point, he told us how he would be doing Todd’s side of the procedure in detail and all of the options.  He assured us that one way or another, he would be able to extract sperm.  We won’t know until the procedure if it’s viable.  However, the chances are high that it will be.  He was a great doctor with an excellent bedside manner.  He was very patient and answered all of our my questions.  J  I tend to ask anything and everything.  Todd even asked me before we left the hospital if I was sure I didn’t have any other questions for the doctor.  I feel satisfied that we will be able to continue on with this process without even considering the need for a sperm donor.  Dr. Miller said he wouldn’t even have one as a back-up plan.  Man, I love this doctor!

So all good news.  We are thrilled!  Tomorrow night, we’re going to celebrate with Heather Nichol!  Bring your party hat, girl.  J

    1. Excellent point, Mom. Ironically, he’s the second Dr. Miller we have used for urology. Must be a popular name for that discipline.

  3. I just came across your blog while researching lupron and Dr.B! I have just read through the whole thing and feel so much better about the whole process. I did exactly what the nurse told me not to do after I found out I would have to take the Lupron.....googled it! I was mortified by all the horror stories. Then I decided to search for people who had been through this with Dr.B and I found you! I feel so much better. I have PCOS and most recently was diagnosed after lap with endo. I start my injections tomorrow and have been very anxious about the side effects. I see that you had some bad ones....but survived! My husband and I have been trying for five years and finding out we would have to delay that for the shots and the bcp that would follow was frustrating. I am encouraged knowing other people have been through this with the same doctor! I was wondering did you have more than one bone scan? I'm anxious about the possible bone loss.

    1. Allison, I’m so sorry I’m just responding! I’m so glad that my blog made you feel better about the process. One of the best things you can do is have people to talk to that have gone through this process. It’s like nothing I’ve ever done. Feel free to contact me on here or privately to talk anytime!

I only had the one bone scan. Dr. Bundren wasn’t too concerned with me losing a little because my numbers were good in the beginning. Did they tell you that your numbers looked normal for your age?

How has the first month gone so far? I hope it’s going well. Luckily, my side effects didn’t seem to kick-in until after the second shot.

Let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Support is key! (My husband says to tell your husband to remember that you are terribly chemically imbalanced for the next few months. Anything you say or do should be taken with a grain of salt…and the understanding that there is an end to this phase.) Good luck!

    2. I haven't had the scan yet. It is scheduled for next Thursday. I feel great so far. Keep holding my breath waiting to feel bad! I guess the next few months could get worse but I am thinking positively! I will give my hubby that great advice :)

    3. I hope the scan went well. I'm sure it did! Also, I just wanted you to know that I was thinking about you today. I hope you're being able to stay positive and still feeling well. This crazy weather can make things difficult. Just know that I'm thinking about you!
